Recorded live with full string section and choir at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, 20 years after Soul Asylum’s iconic ‘MTV Unplugged’ set. Lead track ‘Misery’ is the band’s second biggest hit (after ‘Runaway Train’), it launches alongside an April US acoustic tour, video premiere on street date, PR via Mad-Ink, ad spend and short-form video rollout, with Summer dates to follow. Soul Asylum still play over 100 dates a year worldwide and continue to release studio albums40 years into their career.
Breakout album ‘Grave Dancers Union’ sold over two million copies in the US, establishing the band as a major force.
‘Runaway Train’ won Best Rock Song at the GRAMMY Awards and became a cultural milestone thanks to its socially impactful music video highlighting missing children.
Originated in the Minneapolis underground scene alongside peers including The Replacements and Husker Du.
